Dr Olanike Adeyemo has made considerable contributions to scholarship and scientific advancement in the field of aquatic toxicology, aquatic pathobiology, biochemical and molecular toxicology including identification of biological effects of environmental contaminants, Environmental risk assessment with respect to their relevance to environmental and human health, aquaculture development and fisheries conservation in Nigeria. Dr Adeyemo is a Reader (Associate Professor) and has published 65 articles in learned journals of International repute, monographs, technical reports and refereed conference proceedings. Dr Adeyemo has successfully supervised 24 undergraduate projects and 15 postgraduate dissertations and theses. She was appointed an epidemiological and toxicological expert to serve on the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) from 2011-2015. In 2010, Dr Adeyemo was elected a Fellow of the African Scientific Institute (ASI), California, USA, which recognizes the achievement of excellence of each fellow in his/her field of endeavour. She has attracted grants and funding to support her research. Her current project titled “Tetracycline Residues in fish and fish products in Nigeria” is on fish food safety. Dr. Adeyemo is an alumnus of African Nutrition Leadership Program, she was selected in 2007 to represent Nigeria as a Fellow on the Eisenhower Common Interest Program, which brings together emerging leaders from different countries of the world engaged in the theme “urban challenges”. She was also selected as a Fellow on the USDA/USAID sponsored Norman E. Borlaug International Agricultural Science and Technology Fellows Program for African Women in Science in year 2006. She has been invited to participant in the last three World Science Forums, held in Budapest (2005, 2007 and 2009). Dr Adeyemo is a Fellow of Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD), International, London, UK . Dr Adeyemo has also collaborated extensively and has effectively maintained a multidisciplinary research team within Nigeria, Africa and beyond.
